My First Race

My knee feels better and I’ve resume my daily running schedule. I’m feeling better than ever thanks to running and I’ve signed up for my first. It will be an 8K that’s about two weeks. I thought about running in a 5K first but I figured since my short runs are at 5 miles, why not do an 8K and the best part of it is that I’ll be running it with my mother and good friend, who are my two biggest running influences.

I can’t think of better to run my first race than with friends and family.

..Now I’m off to run a quick 5 than it’s time for football. Go Dolphins!

Cheers,
Kyle

I have an addiction….

…and it’s RUNNING! Sorry that it has been a while since my last post. My wife and I are expecting our first child, so between that and work and my new addiction, I really haven’t that much time to keep my blog up to date. I’ll try to change that =).

I have been averaging about 5 miles a day, 6 days a week until I got a pain in my right knee. I noticed it when I would go up and down the stairs and , of course, when I started to run one morning. I decided to take a couple of days off to give it a rest but it’s killing me not to get up each morning and pursue my new passion.

It’s been about 5 days since the pain started and it feels a lot better. I’ll take one more day off and hopefully get back on the road Saturday.

My First Post…

I’m 30 years old and I’ve just started running. I’ve been a pretty active guy all of my life, playing different sports but running was the one hurdle I couldn’t jump over. I did all of the wrong things; wearing the wrong shoes and starting off too fast. My mother and a lot of my friends are marathon runners and I knew if my mother, who is an ex-smoker who didn’t start running until her 40s, could conquer it I knew I could.

So I went to my local running store, which happens to be my good friend’s place of employment, got a great pair of Asics that were right for me and I was off. I started off slow..walking at a brisk rate then jogging about 2 miles. Now I’m at about 4-5 miles and I feel great.

I’m going to start running in 5Ks then onto 8ks & 10ks and then I plan to run in my first half-marathon next June in Seattle.

So I’ve finally gotten over that hurdle, I feel great and I hope this stays with me for a long time.
